Terms and Conditions – Adaptive Bike Hire

Terms and Conditions

Be On Time

  1. Please be on time. In most cases, a club volunteer will be meeting you for handover, and they may have other commitments following handover. Please allow 30mins for the handover to take place.
  2. The bike must be returned before:
1:00pm for a morning half day hire or
5pm for an afternoon or full day hire. Please contact us immediately if you are going to be running late and you are meeting a club volunteer to return the bike (eg, they are not riding with you).

Safety

  1. Fully enclosed shoes must be worn at all times for your safety. Crocs, slip on shoes, or plastic shoes are not suitable for riding and your hire will be denied at the time of pickup. In this case where you have failed to bring appropriate shoes, you will forfeit your hire and a refund will be issued.
  2. Helmets must be worn while riding at all times for your safety.
  3. Risk Warning and Waiver of Liability will need to be signed before the hire commences.
  4. You assert that on each day you are booked for a bike hire session that you are in good physical condition, not suffering from any contagious disease, that you are not carrying an injury which will affect your ability to participate in the activity, and that you are not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  5. Forrest MTB & Cycling Club have the right to refuse to hire to any person/s judged incapable of activities, and for not executing the Risk Warning and Waiver of Liability.

(opens in neCancellations

  1. If you need to cancel your hire session, please let us know asap. The hire may be rescheduled to another day (subject to availability) or a refund given.
  2. Bike hires will proceed in the vast majority of weather conditions so come dressed appropriately with layers that you can adjust if the weather changes. The hire session may/will need to be rescheduled/cancelled if:
    • the temperature is predicted to be above 32 degrees during the hire.
    • there are strong winds. This is due to the risk of trees or branches falling.
    • the bushfire rating is Catastrophic.
    • the expected rainfall during the session or immediately proceeding it would greatly affect the trails or the safety of participants.
  3. Where the bike hire has been cancelled by Forrest MTB & Cycling Club due to unsuitable weather or bushfire ratings as listed above, a full refund will be provided.

Your Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to:

  • operate the rental bike in a manner appropriate to the prevailing road, trail and weather conditions
  • wear a helmet, appropriate shoes and other protective clothing
  • ride within your own limits at all time and the limits of the rental bike
  • know the relevant rules of the road, rules of the trail and practice safe cycling
  • know how to operate a multi speed bike
  • report any damage to the bike or any equipment included in the hire
  • You may attach a bike computer/go pro to the rental but you remain wholly responsible for anything you attach to the bike and any damage caused by it.
  • Only transport the bikes in a commercially produced bike rack suitable for this bike.

Theft of and Damage to Rental Bike:

You are responsible for any and all damage that occurs after the rental bike and helmet is collected and before it is returned. This includes, but is not limited to, any form of theft or damage to the rental bike. Any damage will be quoted on for repair or replacement by a bike shop at full retail cost and this amount will be invoiced to you, up to the full retail value of the bike if it is a total write-off. If you paid for the rental by credit card, then that credit card will be held as security for the duration of the bike rental.

You agree to pay for any damage to the bicycle incurred during the hire period including, but not limited to, punctured tube; torn/damaged tyre sidewall; torn/damaged grips; torn/damaged saddle; damage to the motor (if applicable) damage to the braking or gear shifting systems; buckled wheels; broken spokes; bent handlebars; damage to the suspension including scratches and gouges and total failure due to incorrect use (descending with "lock-out" engaged); and damage to the bicycle frame including scratches, dents, folds, creases or cracks. These kinds of damages most commonly occur with crashes, improper storage of the bicycle during transport and/or unintentional damage to the tube/tyre based on riding surface condition.

The Bowhead being hired from Forrest MTB & Cycling Club is valued at $39,250 and you are to treat it with respect at all times.

Post Ride Feedback

  1. If you damage the bike in any way during the session, please let us know when you return the bike so we can attend to the issue quickly and get it fixed. If you damage the bike to the point that you cannot complete your session, that will be the end of your session and there will be no refund for any part of the session you were unable to ride.
  2. If you experienced a mechanical issue due to an oversight or a maintenance issue, we may issue a refund in proportion to the effect on the hire session. Please let us know if anything needs looking at specifically - we always check the bike but it helps us to have any issues highlighted quickly.
