DEECA has contacted us to let everyone know that the hazard that was present on Millers Mongrel has been treated, allowing them to reopen the Third Time Lucky, Follow the Dog and Miller’s Mongrel section of the network. Part of Miller’s Mongrel will be damaged due to the machine but is still safe to ride, and they will look to fix the damage next week. They have also cleared the flow trails again so they should be riding well again.
Hi Folks. We’ve had a chat with the hard-working DEECA crew today about how they’re going with the trail clean up after the park got smashed with the weather over the last few weeks. They’ve had a decent crack the last 4-5 working days with a couple of crews working on the network. While having completed most of the Forrest Network there’s still a temporary closure up on the Third Time Lucky, Miller’s Mongrel and Follow the Dog sections, as there is an unnerving hanger/s in that system, it’s hoped that will be dealt with soon. The flow trails were done first and it was hoped they were clear but tonight it sounds like there’s been a few fresh ones down in Steam Donkey, Bombora and PBJAs for Yaugher, there doesn’t seem to be too many trees down on that network, but DEECA are looking at getting out there and clear those this week all going well. We know of at least one in MarrinersIt's fair to say the park got pretty smashed up and while DEECA and a couple of the dedicated local club folks have been out and about there’ll be the odd bits and pieces that were already down or will come down yet……that’s nature for you. If you find something out there too big to deal with easily then send the club a PM with a description, a pic of the offending object, even if it’s a hanger or a potential issue and a screen shot of where you are either on Trailforks, STRAVA or any of the other map apps that place you on a trail in real time. Our advice is, first and foremost don’t ignore any closures if they exist, do a casual run through a trail before trying to launch a STRAVA hero run……….and be patient grasshopper, the trails were a small part of some pretty serious storm damage in the area, locals have had a lot to contend with. Somethings may crop up that need to be prioritised over trail stuff and stuff is still dropping. Thanks for the patience and feedbackPrez.
DEECA have advised they have had to close these trails while they work on clearing the other trails at the Southern Trailhead. It will be a while till everything gets cleared. A local legend has been hard at work clearing sections of Yaugher but we’re sure there’s heaps that haven’t been discovered yet as the weather hasn’t been great but message the club on Facebook with photos of anything that needs clearing as well as a Trailforks screenshot of the location. Cheers!
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing and forecast of high winds in the area and subsequent damage and danger to riders, we have regretfully made the decision to cancel racing this weekend. We are busy trying to arrange alternative races for the adult and dirt squirts series for next weekend and a Forrest event later in the year. Keep an eye out for announcements!Thank you for your continued support of GMBC and our racing program. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.GMBC
