🟢Green light for new skills park at Forrest’s Southern Trailhead🚴‍♀️Council welcomes the Victorian Government announcement of the appointment of Velosolutions Australia as contractor to design and construct a new skills park at Forrest’s Southern Trailhead, as part of Stage One of the Forrest Mountain Bike Revitalisation Project.“The skills park was part of the Forrest community’s vision for this site and we have worked closely with the community, including the Forrest Mountain Bike & Cycling Club, as well as Forest Fire Management Victoria, Barwon Water and Parks Victoria for the past decade to see this project come to fruition,” said Colac Otway Shire Council Mayor, Cr Kate Hanson. “We’re thrilled to see this work begin and acknowledge the collaborative communication between the community and agency partners that has made it possible.”The new skills park will feature three main components:• An asphalt pump track• Two jump lines• A set of three skill linesThe skills park will be located within the Forrest Trailhead precinct that is a gateway to the southern system of the town’s mountain bike trail network.Forest Fire Management Victoria and Colac Otway Shire Council are delivering Stage One works throughout 2022 with funding of $250,000 from Colac Otway Shire Council and $2.07 million from the Victorian Government through DELWP BarwonSouthWest and Regional Development Victoria. #forrest #colacotwayshire #mountainbiking ... We’ve had reports of large trees down on Follow the Dog trail 6. It’s been marked as closed on Trailforks but probably won’t get sorted until after Cup Day. Hi folks,A heads up for the Forrest trails around Red Carpet , 7 November.The RunForrest event is finally going to get off the ground after many, and what I'm sure for them difficult, covid related false starts over the last year and a bit.Please be mindful of the areas being used for the event and stay clear for the day, it'll be on the map in their event page.Also the crew running the event are looking for two keen volunteers to assist at registration as covid Marshall's.
