Trails running great & funding for Womens Skills
Well it seems we never did post about the actual launch event for the trails… which was now some time ago! The new signage is great, the pump track is a hit and the trails have bedded in nicely. In more recent news, the club has received funding to have a local instructor run fully … Read more
DEECA have advised they have had to close these trails while they work on clearing the other trails at the Southern Trailhead. It will be a while till everything gets cleared. A local legend has been hard at work clearing sections of Yaugher but we’re sure there’s heaps that haven’t been discovered yet as the weather hasn’t been great but message the club on Facebook with photos of anything that needs clearing as well as a Trailforks screenshot of the location. Cheers!
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing and forecast of high winds in the area and subsequent damage and danger to riders, we have regretfully made the decision to cancel racing this weekend. We are busy trying to arrange alternative races for the adult and dirt squirts series for next weekend and a Forrest event later in the year. Keep an eye out for announcements!Thank you for your continued support of GMBC and our racing program. We look forward to seeing you at our next event.GMBC
Hi Folks.Along with the rest of the state, the Forrest trails have copped a shellacking. With more crap weather coming along, it promises to be a lot worse by Sunday, and that'll take the shine off things a fair bit. It's going to take some considerable time to clear the trails so the riding will be a pretty lack lustre affair. If we're being honest with each other, apart from it being a chain destroying, derailleur exploding, spoke knackering experience, it's also probably a pretty risky proposition too.If you can, I'd be giving DEECA at least a week to clean up and put a bit of gloss on the place before coming down.
We have been loving these Change Our Game sessions! We get comments like "That was so much fun - what's next?" Social rides and night rides are great excuses to get out on a bike but if you're looking for more skill development, this is what's next.We are offering a group of sessions in October. It's Saturdays, 2-4pm and we are going to explore mtb further. Where the Come and Try Sessions gave you a taste of learning skills, this is where we go a bit deeper, practice a bit more and extend our learning.Interested? You have to commit to the 4 weeks. If you know now that you can't make a session advertised, please leave the space for someone else who can take full advantage of all sessions. There will be other offerings in the future. We also ask that you sign up to be a member of AusCycling and the Forrest MTB Club. You can buy different memberships through AusCycling, some which include different levels of riding insurance, and some that don't and are free. You then pay the Forrest MTB club fees on top - it's only $20. Becoming a member is a great way to support our club and our trails, and helps build the mtb local community. Becoming a club member is a way to give back to the club that is providing these sessions to you! Read more about becoming a member on our website at forrestmtbclub.org/membership/. These 4 x weekly sessions are fully subsidised by the Change Our Game funding and includes free bike hire if you don't have a bike yet! Please make sure you're on the mailing list - pop over to the club website to sign up. Those who have attended after signing up through a facebook event (not the mailing list) will need to join the mailing list to receive the information. The first mailout will go to those who have already attended one of our Come and Try events, and if places are still left after the initial mailout to previous attendees, we will open the sessions up to all. We will send out sign up links in the next few days so if you've already attended a Come and Try Session or social ride, keep an eye on your inbox.#changeourgame #RideForrest #forrestmtbclub #Exploremtbforrest Change Our Game
Forrest has experienced lots of high wind gusts overnight and we expect there to be many branches and trees down over the network. DEECA is asking for feedback as to which trails need clearing. If you’re heading out for a ride once it calms down and you find a tree down, please message the club with a photo of the tree, rough diameter and a screenshot of the location on Trailforks and we’ll pass it onto DEECA. Priority will be given to trails being raced this weekend! Thanks!
