This idea for this project developed out of various conversations with adaptive riders and NDIS participants about the difficulties they encountered when trying to get into riding.
- Needing to test ride an adaptive bike before making an NDIS funding application was problematic - you could test one in a carpark but you really want to try it on a trail to see how it handles.
- You might be able to self fund your bike, but still can't test ride it on trails first.
- Wanting to introduce a friend to the sport but only having one adaptive bike between the two of you.
- Travelling from another place but unable to bring your own adaptive bike.
These were just some of the issues riders faced.
Below we are happy to share the details of the project application, our thinking and goals, and the various people who contributed their time, knowledge and money to make it happen.
